Train, Shoot, Swim, Repeat

It looks like the video streak has come to an end. I'm optimistic about getting up to Mt. Charleston or out to Priest Draw this summer a bit, but for now I'm on a pretty steady routine (as you might have guessed from the title).

I've been in the gym a lot lately and it's been great. I have a wide variety of workouts and circuits, but I try to focus most of my energy making huge moves on/off/to the smallest possible holds my fat fingers will allow. My weakness has always been small holds so the problems I've been making up are typically full extensions on edges with high feet to force the lock off. I'm planning to jot down a couple training routines that really seem to be working for me soon so stay tuned if you're into that sort of thing. And if not I totally get it. I'd rather be climbing outside too.

Climbing is always part of the equation, but lately shooting has been responsible for my neglect of this blog. Since moving back I've shot around 150 weddings and there has been no shortage of characters and crazy stories. I love the work and for the first time I can say that I love my job. My co-workers are established vets with seemingly endless work and a lot of knowledge, which is great because I have a lot to learn. For a look at what I've been busy tinkering with check out maxmoorephoto.com

In the small amount of time I'm not climbing or shooting I'm either playing some Call of Duty or swimming. I try to swim at least a half hour a day for a mix of physical therapy and cross training. I find that it also helps heal my fingers, but that could just be placebo. Mainly I'm in the pool because it's 100 degrees here every other day.

So there you have it. The super exciting life I'm living right now. When I find myself getting bored and impatient I try to think about how saving all of this money now will eventually add up to a fantastic 2013 summer in ROCKLANDS!

I don't have any photos to go along with this post to here are a few absurd wedding photos I've taken recently.

I was going to caption these photos but I don't think they need it. And yes, there really is a skull and crossbones tattoo on that guy's face.

  2. I got a lot better at small holds by doing small moves with good feet on a steep wall like 60 degrees. It helped me loads except I got weaker at big moves.

  3. Thanks for the tip! I'll be sure to try it out. Always looking for new things to do in the gym.
